Union Berlin is about to sign DFB star Robin Gosens

A veritable transfer coup is looming at Union Berlin. According to reports, the Köpenickers are about to sign national player Robin Gosens.

As the “kicker” reports, the talks between Unionern and Inter Milan are at an “advanced stage”. Accordingly, only the commitment of the player should be missing.

In the capital, Gosens could cover several posts on the left. While Union currently only has one left-back in Jerome Roussillon, the search for a left-winger in the Champions League participant’s squad has been entirely unsuccessful.

Gosens would be Union’s “king transfer”

It is still unclear how the club would finance a transfer of the 16-time international. There is currently a transfer fee of 15 to 20 million euros in the room. That would be a first in the club’s history. So far, Union Berlin has never spent a double-digit million sum on a player.

It is also conceivable that the Berlin Gosens will lend out for a year and have a purchase option or purchase obligation next summer. The left foot only switched to Inter Milan last summer after a six-month loan. At that time, the “Nerazzurri” still paid around 28 million euros to Atalanta Bergamo.

However, the German was never able to secure a long-term regular place in this year’s European high-flyer. He scored four goals in 49 games across all competitions. He also reached the final of the Champions League with the team, but lost there 0-1 against Manchester City.

Gosens made it into the DFB team via the Netherlands and Italy

For Gosens, a move to Union Berlin would be the first stop in German professional football. In 2012 he ventured to the Netherlands and worked his way up to Heracles Almelo through his youth at Vitesse Arnhem. In 2017 he went to Atalanta Bergamo. There Gosens even developed into a national team player.

About a year before the European Championships at home, the return to Germany could follow.
