The Europa League game between Malmö and Union Berlin was suspended due to fireworks. At the 57th minute, the visiting team from Union’s end started flying red rockets in the middle of the field.

The match was immediately stopped and the teams went back to the locker room. The Malmö fans around the away stand quickly retreated as more and more rockets started flying towards the green.

On social media on video one huge bomb can be seen exploding right at the policemen’s feet, causing fear in the stadium.

A few minutes later, the police arrive to separate the Union fans from the enraged Swedish fans.

You can see from below from the tweethow the events started.

After 20 minutes of investigation, the stadium announces that the game will continue, but even one firework on the field would stop the game again.

The score was 0–0 at the time of the interruption. Berlin had received a red card at the end of the first half. At the 68th minute Sheraldo Becker gave the away team the lead.

Union Berlin’s fans have caused chaos in Sweden before, as in 2014, in a friendly match at Djurgården, a real firework war broke out on the pitch between two fans.

The police arrived to calm the situation. PDO
