Union Berlin confirm signing of Kevin Volland from AS Monaco

Union is taking an exciting path, but one that also harbors dangers!

I found Max Kruse (and Isco) already “dangerous”…..

First and foremost, you have to be careful with the transfers that you don’t spoil the overall picture with all the “VWs and Opels” and that you lose your undoubtedly extraordinary face!

Such gaps also spoil the atmosphere in the team very quickly.

And I personally think that a hard-working guy like Kevin Behrens, for example, exudes more appropriate charm, flair and identification, regardless of the quality issues, than a “full” Volland or a probably already overpaid “Chelsea boy”.

This reading is understandable, but the “star newcomers” also have the potential to mix quality with hard work, as they all have something to prove individually:

Volland was consistently ignored in his prime when nominated for the national team and went to the principality as felt “unfinished”. I can well imagine that he would like to prove himself one last time in his home country and that he is really up for the challenge. In addition, he always makes a very down-to-earth impression in interviews, a family man without airs and graces. He also has the body of an ice hockey player and I also remember him from Leverkusen as someone who gives it his all and is not a fair-weather footballer.

Gosens has had a very curious career, via the slog in Holland to glamorous club Inter Milan. Also a very down to earth guy who gets a lot about dynamism, will and struggle. Was last out at Inter, also at DFB and has never played in the Bundesliga – I think he will be motivated to the max.

Fofana played in Côte d’Ivoire three years ago and has had one good season so far in Europe – in Norway. From a purely sporting point of view he is anything but full and his abilities are phenomenal and could make him one of the best strikers in Europe within the next 4-5 years. He will earn very well at Chelsea, especially for someone with his background who didn’t grow up in a European academy, where you drive top-class cars as a youth player and even if you don’t break through, there is almost a guarantee of professional football – the boy will probably also get maximum hungry to stand out from the talent glut at Chelsea to take himself and his career to the next level.

In my opinion, Union does that very well, they always bring in players whose careers have not yet been “counted out” and who therefore have an intrinsic motivation to give everything. If Urs Fischer succeeds in integrating these new quality players into the collective like the underdog players from the last few years just at a higher level, Union will find itself in the top 6.

This line of reasoning is of course also understandable, perhaps I had painted too much black.
