Unimaginable! As the only remaining participant…

The 6633 Arctic Ultra is a 250-mile (402-kilometer) ultramarathon in extreme conditions. A hike in the harsh north of Canada, at temperatures of -30 to -40 degrees, with the Arctic Circle as final destination. Through Tombstone National Park, over the Ogilvie Mountains, with more than 3500 meters of elevation gain. To be an official ‘finisher’, you must complete the course within seven days.

Chris Seynaeve was one of the fifteen participants at the start, a few days ago. But after 260 kilometers he was completely alone. All other participants had already given up the fight by then. Exhausted or with frostbite symptoms.

There was hardly any contact with the outside world. Chris had to drag his own luggage on a kind of wheeled sled. Only via a tracker could the home front follow where he was and whether he was making any progress.

Last night the liberating video appeared on the competition page. Chris Seynaeve already has two participations in the Marathon des Sables to his name. But when he was the only one to cross the finish line of the physically and mentally demanding Arctic Ultra, he was full of happiness.
