In future, tampon and pad dispensers will be available free of charge in various Potsdam facilities. The first is the university.
As the University’s Equal Opportunities Office announced on Wednesday, 20 dispensers have already been placed on the university campus. According to their own statements, this is intended to relieve students with low incomes and remove the taboo on the subject of menstruation.
The costs for filling and maintaining the dispensers are therefore shared equally between the university management and the student body. The “Tagesspiegel” reported first.
The Potsdam city ordinance had already decided in November to provide periodic articles in at least 25 public buildings: This should include schools, swimming pools and administration buildings.
A spokesman for the city administration was initially unable to confirm media reports on Tuesday that the corresponding dispensers are to be installed in the next three to four weeks.
