The month of August in Mataro (Maresme) has ended with 7,500 registered unemployed, according to data handled by the City Council. This figure represents an increase of 357 people, 5% in relative terms, with respect to the month of July. This, in addition, is the first growth in monthly registered unemployment that occurs during 2022.
However, it should be noted that the month of August is a time of year when registered unemployment traditionally increases. At least this has happened in 17 of the last 19 months of August since figures are recounted. In this sense, compared to the same period last year, the number of unemployed has fallen by 10.2%.

For all these reasons, the unemployment rate in Mataró rises to 12.5%, with the capital of Maresme being the third municipality with more than 50,000 inhabitants in the province of Barcelona with the highest percentage, after Manresa and Santa Coloma de Gramanet. .
