UN torture expert sounds the alarm: “Urgent care needed for Navalny in Russian cell”

The Russian government must urgently provide detained opposition politician Alexei Navalny with extensive medical care as his health deteriorates. So says Alice Edwards, the UN Special Rapporteur on torture and other atrocities. If it is true that the Kremlin critic has been placed in a solitary cell in harsh conditions for 114 days in seven months, she says that amounts to a form of torture.
