UN teachers in Gaza celebrate mass murder of Jews

By Björn Stritzel

More than 1,200 Israelis were brutally murdered by Palestinians on October 7th.

Now an investigation shows: Employees of the UN relief organization in Gaza, which Germany also finances with many millions, are cheering the mass murder. Among them are several teachers who are supposed to teach Palestinian children peace and tolerance!

At least 14 teachers from the UN refugee agency UNRWA glorified the October 7 mass killings on their social media profiles, according to a report by the Israeli organization IMPACT-se.

▶︎ On October 10th, UNRWA employee Mahmoud Abu Adhm called for the Israeli hostages to be killed.

▶︎ The English teacher Sarah Alderawy, who teaches at a UNRWA school in Gaza, posted several videos of the terrorist attacks on Facebook: Alderawy accompanied the images of executed civilians with verses from the Koran with which she celebrated the murders.

▶︎ Afaf Talab, another teacher at a UNRWA school, asked on Facebook for God to destroy the Jews.

▶︎ Ebrahim Al Azaiza, who teaches English at a UNRWA school in Gaza, posted a video of a rocket hitting Israel on the morning of October 7th and wrote: “What a wonderful sight!”

Indoctrination to hate and violence

But it’s not just the teachers at UNRWA schools who glorify anti-Semitism and mass murder. The textbooks used to teach in these schools have also been criticized for years: they call for “jihad” against Israel, glorify assassins and declare violence against Jews a religious duty.

UNRWA is largely financed from the West – although it has been known for years that Palestinian children are raised to hate in UNRWA schools.

Although a study by the EU Commission ultimately came to the conclusion that anti-Semitic incitement and calls for violence were being spread in the teaching materials, nothing happened.

Germany transferred almost 200 million in 2022

The EU continues to support UNRWA with millions, and Germany is Europe’s largest donor: in 2022, the federal government transferred a total of 190 million euros to UNRWA through various programs and ministries, and this year it is likely to be even more.

The development aid ministry of Svenja Schulze (55, SPD) announced on Tuesday that the previously planned financial aid for UNRWA would be increased by 20 million euros to a total of 91 million euros.

“We have been clearly showing the German government for years what content is taught in the teaching materials in UN schools,” says Marcus Sheff, Managing Director of IMPACT-se. “It teaches that you have to cut the throats of the enemy, that Israelis have to be exterminated, that Jews are murderers and thieves,” said Sheff.

“We have warned again and again that this incitement will turn into terrible acts and we saw what happened on October 7th: thousands of Palestinians who were incited in UNRWA schools were tortured, raped and murdered.”

It is completely incomprehensible that such agitation continues to be financed with German tax money. These are not isolated cases, emphasizes his colleague Arik Agassi, who investigated the hate speech in UNRWA schools. “It is an institutional problem, you find this incitement in schools in Gaza as well as in the West Bank.”

More than 150 Hamas terrorists have now been identified who graduated from a UNRWA school and then carried out terrorist attacks against Jews. “Hamas itself is very proud of these members, publishing detailed biographies in the obituaries that highlight their graduation from UNRWA schools,” said Agassi.

“We had to endure videos of children spitting on hostages and corpses,” says EU MP Niclas Herbst (50, CDU) to BILD. UNRWA must immediately remove teachers who cheer this from their service, otherwise they will be complicit, said Herbst. “As the EU, we should withhold any financial donations and subject them to intensive scrutiny!”
