UN: Spain must compensate woman for ‘violence’ during childbirth

Spain must compensate a woman who was forced to undergo a cesarean section with her arms tied, the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) ruled on Thursday. The woman was “a victim of obstetric violence, a type of violence against women that has been shown to be widespread and systematic in many health care systems,” the UN commission said in its investigative report.
