UN Security Council discusses recent Russian attacks on Tuesday

Ukraine has called for an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council on Russian attacks on civilian targets, the UN body said. That meeting will also be held: Tuesday at 8:00 PM (2:00 PM local time).

The Russian missile strike Monday on a shopping center in the central city of Kremenchuk “is the main focus” of the meeting, said a spokesman for the Albanian mission, which holds the rotating presidency of the Security Council. Thirteen people were killed. The shelling of a residential complex in Kiev on Sunday (five dead), and Monday’s in Kharkov (five dead) and Lisichiansk (eight dead) are also discussed.

Since the start of the invasion on February 24, Russia has structurally denied attacking civilian targets. Moscow did not comment on Monday’s Ukrainian allegations, but said on Sunday that the attack on the Kiev housing complex targeted an arms factory.
