Delegations from all governments affiliated to the UN climate treaty are at the talks. The countries approve the summary for policymakers sentence by sentence, with the scientists involved checking that the content remains intact. This method is time-consuming, but it also contributes to the status of the report: governments that have given their approval cannot subsequently deny what it says.
The so-called synthesis report should bring together all the conclusions that have been drawn in recent years. For example, previous publications have dealt with ways to combat climate change or the countries most vulnerable to global warming. Now the scientists can connect these topics.
