Ultras clashes: the videos, the head of Rome’s ultras arrested and… The point of the investigation

The chief prosecutor of Arezzo: “Insane act, those responsible will be called to answer in criminal proceedings for their serious actions”. Tomorrow trial for the Giallorossi injured and accused of aggravated brawl

After the guerrilla unleashed yesterday along the highway by groups of supporters from Naples and Rome, the Arezzo prosecutor’s office will open an investigation file. “We are awaiting a detailed report from the Police Headquarters: a long and complex investigation is underway, because it is a question of identifying as many people as possible” explained the chief prosecutor of Arezzo, Roberto Rossi, recalling that in order to complete this operation “we need time”, given that several hundred were present at the scuffles. “All the efforts of this office and of the State Police are concentrated on identifying those responsible for what happened. It was a crazy act,” said the chief prosecutor of Arezzo. “It was an act that seriously endangered the safety of travelers and blocked one of the main traffic arteries of our country. We plan to identify those responsible as soon as possible and call them to account for their conduct in criminal proceedings and of their grave deeds”. Once the report has been filed, the Public Prosecutor’s Office will formally open an investigation file. The policemen of the Digos of Rome are also working on the investigations to identify the Roma and Napoli fans together with those of Arezzo.

The crimes

The hypotheses of crime are those of interruption of public service, attack on transport safety and aggravated brawl. And one of the leaders of the Giallorossi fans, Martino Di Tosto, 43, has already been accused of an aggravated brawl, who ended up yesterday in the emergency room of the San Donato hospital in Arezzo after being injured in the clashes. Di Tosto had been involved in 2013 in a stone throwing against the Verona coach. The very direct hearing to validate the arrest will be held tomorrow.

The reconstruction

The Arezzo Police Headquarters also reconstructed the crazy day: around one o’clock about 350 Napoli fans headed for Genoa stopped at the Badia al Pino service area heading north, shortly after a group of Roma supporters also arrived in transit along the same route. A guerrilla war broke out and blocked the motorway for 50 minutes: queues of up to 15 kilometers were formed. The Police have closed the entrance to the service area and the Police Headquarters is currently trying to identify the people who took part in the clashes. In addition to the images from the cameras, Digos is also analyzing the shots taken by motorists with mobile phones.

In Genoa

A sequence of events was also registered in Genoa: in the afternoon, four ultras from Naples forced a checkpoint. They were chased by traffic police officers and stopped shortly after. Iron bars were found in their car, perhaps used in the clashes in A1.
