Ultra runner Andrii Tkatshuk was wounded in the Russian attack.

Ukrainian ultra runner Andrii Tkatshuk did not flee Ukraine after the Russian invasion, but remained to fight.

Tkatshuk, 36, fought near the town of Zaporizhia, but is now in hospital in southern Ukraine. He has been there for days but is already waiting to return to the front.

He was wounded in battle when shards hit his arm and shoulder.

– Our unit faced a superior war machine. First came the intelligence drones, then the helicopters. Artillery fire later broke out, Tkatshuk said Blickin according to Frankfurter Allgemeine.

Eventually, Russian tanks rolled forward. Tkatshuk left his place even wounded and helped others. Eventually, the entire unit was evacuated.

He says that any death will not bother him and he will not feel anger.

– I have no feelings at all.

In December, Tkatshuk won a 24-hour race in Spain. He is considered one of the best ultra runners in Ukraine.

He firmly believes that Ukraine will be able to stop the Russian army and win the war.

– It can take time and they can still bomb us. But in the end, all we can do is win.
