Thomas Müller is a top performer at FC Bayern. Uli Hoeneß would like to see more homegrown players among the professionals in the future.
Experienced Thomas Müller is an integral part of FC Bayern. The top performer has been in Munich since 2000. He went through the club’s youth team as well as the U17 and U19. He then came to the professionals via the Munich second team in 2009 and is still there today. According to a report by “Sport Bild”, Honorary President Uli Hoeneß is interested in finding more guys like Müller.
Hoeneß is therefore currently very interested in working on campus. Young talents are trained there and can ideally make it to the top like Müller did. A current example of this is Aleksandar Pavlović. He also went through Müller’s stations.
Hoeneß recently also took part in discussions about the “Red&Gold Football” project, a joint venture between FC Bayern Munich and the Los Angeles Football Club. The aim of the project is to train international talent for our own professional teams and professional football. Collaboration between academies in West Africa began last year. At the end of 2023, the area was expanded to include South America.
