Hoeneß on the road to reconciliation
Emotionally – that’s how most of them know him. His outbursts of anger at the general meetings of the FCB or his disputes in the television studio are legendary. Hoeneß polarizes like no other.
But now at a moderate age he seems to be calmer. An indication of this is the reconciliation with former adversaries, some of which have lasted for decades. The latest example is Paul Breitner. The two former teammates and roommates had a close friendship for a long time. But on a trip to Southeast Asia there was a rupture between the two of them because of a triviality that could not be cemented at first, reported Breitner. The two were able to prevent a major escalation, but the friendship was gone.
When Breitner publicly criticized Hoeneß for an angry PK, the fronts were finally so hardened that Hoeneß banned his former flatmate from the official gallery of FC Bayern. But on the occasion of the death of Gerd Müller last year, the buddies from early kicker years at Bayern and the national team reconciled.
