Ukrainian tennis player Stakhovsky: “I would fight”

Ukrainian tennis pro Sergiy Stakhovsky is ready to fight for his home country at war.

“I signed up for the reserve last week. I have no military experience, but private weapon experience,” the 36-year-old told Sky Sports.

After Russia invaded Ukraine, “anyone who is motivated can support the army.” He “would fight,” said Stakhovsky, who is said to be helping his wife and children to safety in Hungary.

His brother and father work as surgeons in Ukraine and are “very stressed. They sleep in the basement,” said Stakhovsky, who won a total of four ATP singles titles.
