LOOK. Ukraine attacks Crimea during night operation with special forces
Special units have landed by water at Olenivka and Mayak, the Ukrainian military says. Fights would then have taken place with the occupier.
The Ukrainian defense says that there have been deaths and material destruction on the Russian side and that the Ukrainian flag has been raised in Crimea. Subsequently, the soldiers left the area without having suffered any losses themselves.
“All goals and tasks have been accomplished,” the intelligence agency said in a statement. Exactly what those goals were is unclear. The invasion of the area, which is also of great symbolic importance, took place on Ukrainian Independence Day.
For their part, Russian media reported on Thursday that the attack had been repulsed and the attackers had been killed.
