Ukrainian foreign minister says “joint victory” is approaching | Abroad

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba says the West is moving towards a “joint victory” over Russia. He praises the military aid that the West offers Ukraine as an important condition for the recapture of the city of Kherson. The US also pledges to continue to support Ukraine.

Kherson was the first major city to fall into Russian hands after the February invasion. “Few people believed Ukraine would survive,” Koeleba said during a meeting with his US counterpart Antony Blinken on the sidelines of the Southeast Asian ASEAN summit in Cambodia.

“Only together can we prevail and Russia kick out Ukraine. We’re on our way. This is going to happen and our victory will be our joint victory – the victory of all the nations of the world who love peace.”

Support

Blinken, in turn, said the US will continue to support Ukraine. Security, humanitarian and economic assistance will continue “as long as necessary,” he said.

The US Secretary of State criticized Russia, especially its targeted campaign to destroy energy infrastructure. “The attacks have had dire consequences for civilians across Ukraine,” he said. The US wants to help Ukraine defend and replace and repair key infrastructure, Blinken said.
