Ukraine: Russian attack in Belarus under false flag

Russia is trying to involve its ally Belarus in the war against Ukraine by attacking villages in Belarus under false flags. The Russian action had to resemble a Ukrainian operation in order to provoke a reaction from Belarus, Ukraine believes about the “provocation”.

During the attack by Russian fighter jets, Belarusian leader Alexandr Lukashenko was visiting Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky emphasized.

Moscow did not immediately comment on a previous statement by the Ukrainian border guard that Belarusian border villages had been bombed by Russian warplanes to create a reason for the government in Minsk to join the Russian war against Ukraine.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force Command, Russian planes took off from a Belarusian airport, then flew over Ukraine, then turned around and shelled Belarus’ Kapan. The Ukrainian Defense Minister then gave the “guarantee” that the Ukrainian armed forces were not carrying out or planning any aggressive actions against Belarus.
