Russian soldiers fired at protesters protesting against the Russian occupation in the Ukrainian city of Enerhodar on Saturday. Ukraine’s Ombudsman Lyudmila Denisova wrote in a Telegram message that the soldiers used so-called flash grenades and fired mortars. At least four people were seriously injured, Denisova said.
The information could not be independently verified. However, images circulate on social media from the city of people fleeing from a square, while explosions can be heard and white smoke rises around them. Ukraine has previously accused the Russian army of firing at anti-Russian protesters in the city of Kherson.
Enerhodar, in southeastern Ukraine, was captured by the Russian army in early March. Near the city is the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe.
