Ruslan Andriyko, the battalion’s deputy chief of staff, is still shocked, he tells the Wall Street Journal : „We have so many trophies that we don’t know what to do with them! We started as an infantry battalion and now we are becoming a mechanized battalion.”
‘They left everything behind’
The commander of a Ukrainian artillery battalion that is also active in the east of the country also has a lot of Russian equipment in use. That just fell into the lap of the unit, the officer, who wishes to remain anonymous, tells the American newspaper: “They fled and left everything behind.” Now his battalion has four additional Russian howitzers and enough ammunition to fight for months to come.
