Ukraine continues its advance near Bachmoet: “Today we have advanced another 500 meters” | War Ukraine and Russia

The Ukrainian army continues its advance near Bachmut. After claiming to have recaptured 20 square kilometers of territory from Russian troops in recent days, it advanced another 500 meters today. That is what the spokesman of the Eastern Troops of the Ukrainian army, Serhiy Cherevaty, said on the Ukrainian TV channel ‘FREEDOM’.

If the information is confirmed, the Ukrainian army has now managed to advance the same distance as the Wagner group fighters when they stormed Bachmut. That took the mercenaries weeks and it was at the cost of heavy losses.

According to Cherevaty, the Russians would begin to realize that the initiative in Bachmut is gradually falling into the hands of Ukraine.

Reserve troops

“We do not have a large number of reserve troops and are no better in terms of personnel and equipment than the enemy, but we still defeat him,” he says. “We are conducting a successful defensive operation and from time to time also attack the enemy on the flanks.”

Cherevaty also said that Russian fighters shelled Ukrainian troops’ positions around Bachmut 456 times today with different calibers and types of artillery and rockets. According to him, there would be no shortage of ammunition among the Russians, as Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin has repeatedly claimed.

Rats

“The Wagnerians feel like rats in a mousetrap in Bachmut,” he added. Oleksandr Syrskyi – the leader of the Ukrainian ground troops – also said something similar earlier. The mercenaries would realize the predicament they are in, but nevertheless continue their offensive and try at all costs to completely conquer the center of Bachmut. The battle therefore continues unabated.
