Ukraine: 20,000 Russian soldiers have died since the start of the invasion

About 20,000 Russian soldiers have died in Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion, Ukrainian authorities said. The figure has not been confirmed by independent parties.

The Kremlin shares very limited information about soldiers killed in Ukraine. A spokesperson admitted last week that there were “significant losses”, but did not share any figures. At the end of March, a death toll of 1,351 was mentioned by Russia itself.

Ukraine claims to have destroyed 163 Russian aircraft, 144 helicopters and 756 tanks during the invasion, which began on February 24. The country has received massive arms shipments from Western allies. President Volodimir Zelensky argues that more weapons are needed to win the war.
