Kyiv (Reuters) – The Ukrainian army says it is pressing ahead with its offensive against Russian-occupied areas in the south of the country.
Two road checks and a landing pad were attacked, government officials said on Thursday. The spokesman for the Odessa regional administration, Serhiy Brachuk, quoted the military staff in southern Ukraine as saying that 13 “occupiers” were killed during the raids on Nowa Kakhovka in the Cherson region. The Russian side was initially unable to comment on the information.
According to Ukrainian sources, there were also counterattacks by Russian troops in the south. According to Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych, the city of Mykolaiv continued to be under Russian fire. Several civilian buildings were hit, he wrote on the short message service Telegram.
In the east of Ukraine, on the other hand, Russian troops continued their advance. The destination was the city of Kramatorsk in the Donbass. Rockets fell in the city’s industrial area, Mayor Olexandr Honcharenko wrote on Facebook. The power went out in some parts of the city. Kramatorsk is located in the Donzek region, which together with the Luhansk region forms the industrial Donbass. After the declared capture of Luhansk, Russia is now concentrating its offensive on Donetsk.
