UK: Retail sales down slightly

UK retail sales have fallen again, albeit slightly. In June, sales fell by 0.1 percent compared to the previous month, as the statistics office ONS announced on Friday in London. In May, sales fell by a revised 0.8 (previously 0.5) percent. Total sales are currently well above the level they were before the corona pandemic.

According to the ONS, online retail sales fell, as did petrol sales at petrol stations. The latter is likely to be primarily due to the significant rise in petrol prices, the statisticians explained. Revenues from food increased, but less was earned from other goods. (dpa)
