2nd league and abroad conceivable
Striker Anthony Ujah expects his time at Union Berlin to end next summer after three years. “As of now, I assume that I will leave the club after the season. There are no talks as of now,” the 31-year-old explained (quoted via “foosball” and “Image”). The Nigerian’s contract expires in June and he will then be on the market on a free transfer.
A move to the 2nd Bundesliga or abroad would also be an option for Ujah. “It’s about what goes well with the family. It doesn’t just have to go to the Cologne region,” said the attacker, who missed the entire 2020/21 season as a result of knee surgery and is therefore relieved to be back on the pitch.

“Now I’m grateful to have been in the squad a couple of times. I see what options there are. But I’m not worried about what’s to come. I am grateful that I have the opportunity to continue playing football. There were times when I didn’t know if it would continue. Now I enjoy every day. I’m just happy,” Ujah revealed.
Union Berlin: Ujah wants to be “the old Toni” again with more playing time
The veteran switched from FSV Mainz 05 to the “Eisernen” for 2 million euros in 2019 and has played 27 games for the Köpenickers since then, scoring three times (two assists). He made a total of 136 Bundesliga appearances, 30 goals and ten assists for Union, 1. FC Köln, Werder Bremen and Mainz. Ujah is desperate to get more playing time. “Then I’ll be old Toni.”
