Uitgeest Ferdy Druijf is the new striker of PEC Zwolle

Ferdy Druijf will strengthen the attack of PhD student PEC Zwolle this season. The 25-year-old striker from Uitgeest comes over from the Austrian Rapid Wien, where he was under contract since last summer.

Druijf was trained at AZ, but a real breakthrough in the first of the Alkmaarders never came. In the forty games he played for AZ, he scored six times. In the meantime, Druijf was loaned to NEC, KV Mechelen and Rapid Wien, before being taken over by the Austrians.

Extensive interest

Druijf recently told in an interview with NH Sports although there was interest in the striker from both the premier league and abroad. “I am happy that I can work for PEC Zwolle in the premier league next season,” says Druijf on the website of PEC Zwolle. “The club has stood for attractive, attacking football for years and it certainly showed that last season. In addition, it is always full here and everyone is looking forward to returning to the Eredivisie.

At PEC Zwolle, which was promoted to the premier league last season, Druijf will have to compete for the striker position with Lennart Thy and Tolis Vellios. Thy was the top scorer in the first division last season with 23 goals.
