Partial exclusion of spectators: UEFA punishes FC Bayern
January 8, 2026 – 5:11 p.mReading time: 1 min.
Because fans of the record champions lit up too much, the European Football Association is now taking action and closing part of the stadium. The people of Munich also receive a fine.
FC Bayern will have to forego some of its fan support at the upcoming Champions League home game against Royale Union Saint-Gilloise on January 21st. After further violations of UEFA regulations, the association is drawing conclusions: Sectors 111 to 114 of the south curve in the Allianz Arena remain closed.
The reason is the repeated use of pyrotechnics in this area during Champions League home games. The UEFA disciplinary committee imposed a fine of 50,000 euros and put into effect a sentence that had already been suspended. This was activated after the incident during the game against Sporting Lisbon on December 9, 2025.
Since block-by-block ticket allocation is not possible in the lower tier of the south curve and all 9,336 tickets are valid for blocks 109 to 117, the club cannot specifically block the 4,800 affected seats. For this reason, FC Bayern is initially canceling all tickets for the south curve. The entrance fee will be refunded and the tickets will no longer be valid.
The cancellation will take place on Friday. If the club puts the spaces in blocks 109 to 110 and 115 to 117 back on sale, it wants to provide information about the details in good time.
