The German Football Association will support incumbent Aleksander Ceferin for another term as president at the 2023 UEFA Congress.

“Aleksander Ceferin distinguished himself in this role and safely guided European football through challenging crises such as the corona pandemic,” said DFB President Bernd Neuendorf. We “expressly” welcome Ceferin’s negative attitude towards the establishment of a European Super League.

“The DFB has full confidence in his actions and in him as a person,” said Neuendorf. The 47th Congress of the European Football Union is scheduled for April 5, 2023 in Lisbon. UEFA member associations have until January 5 to nominate candidates for the elections.

The 54-year-old Slovenian Ceferin has been the head of the association since 2016. In the recent past he successfully fought against plans by FIFA boss Gianni Infantino, according to which the World Cup could take place every two years in the future.
