UEFA announced that Russia was banned from EURO 2024 – Breaking Football news



UEFA has announced the procedure that will apply to the draw of the groups to be determined for the qualifying rounds before the 2024 European Football Championship (EURO 2024) to be held in Germany. According to the statement, in line with the decision taken by the UEFA Executive Committee on February 28, 2022, it was stated that Russia will not take part in the qualifiers.

The UEFA Executive Committee met today in Hvar, Croatia and approved the procedure for the 2024 European Football Championship Qualification draw to be held in Frankfurt on 9 October. According to the procedure announced by UEFA, the host Germany will participate directly in the finals without fighting in the qualifiers. Russia, on the other hand, will not take part in the qualifying rounds in line with the decision taken on February 28, 2022, due to the military operation it launched against Ukraine. The procedure for the 2024 European Football Championship Qualifiers is as follows;

-53 countries, 7 with 5 teams; It will be divided into 10 groups in total, 3 with 6 teams.
-The teams that complete their groups in the 1st and 2nd place will be eligible to participate in the finals. The remaining 3 teams will be determined after the play-off matches to be played in March 2024.
-53 countries will take place in 7 separate bags in the draw according to the 2022-2023 UEFA Nations League rankings.
