UDI Veeningen entertains the public for two weekends

Theater association UDI from Veeningen looks back with satisfaction on two great theater weekends. “When you get to play three times in front of a full house, that’s just great,” says board member Koop Dolsma.

UDI is characterized by a beautiful group of enthusiastic people who all share the same passion: acting. “Working together towards a good result, that’s what I think is the most beautiful thing”, Dolsma mentions, while he hides a few cables for the lighting. He also points out that next year promises to be a special year, because then the theater association will be 75 years old. The association was founded in 1949 and since then UDI plays a play every year and they manage to surprise the audience every time.

Have a laugh

The piece ‘aunt Bella’s beauty salon’, written by Henk Roede, contained the right ingredients to make the audience laugh. Berend Duursma, painter (Jan Zanting) and Albert Duursma, carpenter (Martijn Meijer), are the heirs of aunt Bella and planned to refurbish the salon and then sell it quickly. In the meantime, the salon remained open and they added the treatments for a while, after all, filling is filling was the motto.

Special treatments

Regular customer Mrs van Dreuten (Charlotte Willemse) was pleasantly surprised by the two men and their special treatments, she had never had a face mask made of wall sauce before. Loyal customer Neeltje (Nathalie van Goor) was less charmed by the new owners; that she was put under the sunbed for too long and then thrown into a mud bath was not really helpful.

Fortunately, there was Dora (Alien Bennink) she was immediately very interested in Berend and the bikini wax performed by him was also completely satisfactory and tasted like more. The last but certainly not the least customer was Geert (Henk Bouwer). He received the necessary treatments and that was satisfactory. The pedicure treatment, which was described by Berend and Albert as ‘hoove trimming’, was completely satisfactory. Fortunately for Berend and Albert, intern Susan (Femmelien de Boer) came at just the right time to support the men, although they obviously didn’t like to admit this themselves.

Special twist

The characters were beautifully portrayed, the audience enjoyed the beautiful acting and there was a lot of laughter through the comic scenes. The story took a special turn when suddenly Wiepie Dijkstra (Gerja Roo) came on stage, she also wanted to claim her inheritance. The gentlemen had not counted on this and did everything they could to get this cousin away. But as befits a good civil-law notary, it was all ultimately managed by civil-law notary Bastiaan Nikkelvest (Arjan Moes).
