Ubasart bets on the Government’s clarity agreement “to resolve the political conflict”

The Minister of Justice, Rights and Memory of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Gemma Ubasarthas defended the clarity agreement proposed by the President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonessuch as “way to resolve the conflict between Catalonia and the Spanish State”, according to a statement from the Government this Sunday collected by Europa Press.

He said it in the ‘Víctor Torres Masterclass: 150 years of the First Republic and the Catalan State’ which was held this Sunday at the Universitat Catalana d’Estiu (UCE) in Prada de Conflent (France), together with the president of the UCE, Jordi Casassas, the ex-minister Josep Huguet and the historian Manuel Pérez.

At the conference, Minister Ubasart insisted that a way to materialize “recognition of sovereignty” de Catalunya is the agreement of clarity, inspired by the Canadian model.

An agreement that unites the pro-sovereignty forces and allows “the citizens of Catalonia freely decide the political future with the commitment of the Government of Spain to respect” his decision.

He has said that “despite the interests of some parties to convert the federalism in an alibi to oppose the independence movement” both do not have to be opposing movements.

The “obstacle” of the monarchy

The minister has also pointed out that “the bourbon monarchy is one of the main obstacles to a political, social and territorial democratization” of Spain.
