U2’s Bono and The Edge are reportedly working on music for North Star, an upcoming biopic about director Jim Sheridan. Sheridan himself is directing North Star.
Explosive topic
Jim Sheridan, best known for films like My Left Foot and In The Name Of The Father, will direct the semi-autobiographical film. It is said to be about his youth in Ireland in the early 1960s. During this time, the Northern Ireland conflict prevailed, in which Ireland and the United Kingdom were also involved. Filming is expected to begin in early 2023.
But that’s not all: Bono’s memoir – “40 Songs, One Story” will also be released in November 2022 and in the near future a series about the origins of the band U2, which will be produced by JJ Abrams and Netflix.
40 Songs, One Story is set to follow the singer’s career, from his early teens in Dublin to the U2 success story. In addition, his 20-year commitment to the fight against AIDS and poverty is discussed.
Bono practices self-criticism
As we previously reported, the U2 frontman recently spoke negatively about certain aspects of the band. He said he doesn’t think much of the U2 name. He also doesn’t like most of his band’s songs. He also doesn’t like his own voice.
“I really don’t like the name,” says Bono, and continues, “But I ended up with a kind of dyslexia late on. I also didn’t understand that The Beatles is a bad pun. In our minds it was like a spy plane, or a submarine, it was futuristic – but as it turns out, it implies a kind of forbearance. No, I don’t like that name. I still don’t like the name.”
