After the demonstration of power against Dereck Chisora, Tyson Fury is likely to face Oleksandr Usyk. To prepare for the mega fight in boxing, the Brit gets prominent support from football.
As Fury did in an interview with “itv.comconfirmed, the boxer and former soccer star Wayne Rooney will be doing things together.
“I spoke to Wayne and he agreed,” said Fury, adding: “We will use Wayne to prepare for Usyk. He will come to our training camp and help me for about four weeks.”
Rooney was in the audience at Fury’s fight against Chisora and raved about his compatriot at the time: “He’s an absolute legend for what he’s achieved in boxing. He’s the best we’ve had in a long time and I don’t think that someone will defeat him.”
Rooney is both the England national team’s and Manchester United’s record goalscorer. The 37-year-old has been a coach at MLS club DC United since the summer.
Hard money demand for Fury vs. Usyk
After his victory against Dereck Chisora, Fury sent a challenge to Oleksandr Usyk. “Now you might still laugh, but I’ll finish it,” rumbled the “Gypsy King”.
In the coming year there could actually be a big showdown between the two boxing champions.
“We want to do it,” revealed Fury’s co-promoter Frank Warren about a week ago in an interview with “talkSPORT”. There is one condition above all for the potential venue. “We go where the money is,” Warren made no secret of the ideas.
“I’m ready, I’m willing to play Usyk next – whether it’s in Saudi Arabia or here in the UK. Both places would be fantastic,” said Fury.
