Screening for all children is the law
It was approved yesterday 13 September 2023 unanimously by theChamber of the Chamber the law “Provisions concerning the definition of a diagnostic program for the identification of type 1 diabetes and celiac disease in the pediatric population” upon proposal ofHonorable Giorgio Mule.

What does the new law say?
The text of the law, approved in Montecitorio with 255 votes in favor and one against, it passes to the Senate.
The bill, of which Giorgio Mulè (Fi) is the first signatory, aims to define a public health program of diagnosis through screening intended for the child and adolescent populationidentified in the age range from 1 to 17 years old, For identify subjects at risk of developing type 1 diabetes or celiac disease.
What happens now
According to the launch of Handle“The Minister of Health will have to dictate the criteria for the adoption of the multi-year program for the identification of antibodies for type 1 diabetes and celiac diseaseaimed at preventing the onset of ketoacidosis in subjects suffering from type 1 diabetes and slowing down the progression of the disease through the use of available therapiesas well as obtaining early diagnosis of celiac disease.
For the implementation of the program, an expenditure of 3.85 million euros is expected for each of the years 2024 and 2025 and of 2.85 million euros per year starting from the year 2026″.
A national observatory
