Two years of war: Ukrainians gather in Bruges

Mayor Dirk De fauw was also present: “We opened the doors in Bruges immediately after the outbreak of the war. A community of more than 750 people has now been accommodated here.” Bruges has the largest Ukrainian community in West Flanders. In the meantime, not much remains of everything they left behind at home. Building a different life here is an alternative for those who have children. A center like KRYLA, Ukrainian for WINGS, plays an important role in this.

“Every Saturday, 50 children come to the center to study language in a very creative way. We have a studio here where the children can draw, do crafts and dance,” says Svitlana Musina, coordinator of the center.
