Two years of corona: how many infections in your municipality? † 1Limburg

On February 27 it will be exactly two years since the first corona infection in the Netherlands. The counter now stands at more than 6.2 million registered infections and more than 21,000 deaths.

But how has the coronavirus raged in Limburg over the past two years?

Horst aan de Maas
Figures from the RIVM show that in the municipality of Horst aan de Maas, most people per 1000 inhabitants have been infected. In total, 17,358 people have had corona here, about 403 people per 1000 inhabitants. This average was also high in Venlo (393), just like in Venray (387).

Vaals
The border municipality of Vaals has recorded the fewest infections per 1000 inhabitants: 246 people per 1000 inhabitants. This number may be because people have had themselves tested in the nearby city of Aachen, for example.

Furthermore, on average, the least infections were in the municipalities of Gulpen-Wittem (300), Mook en Middelaar (300) and Valkenburg aan de Geul (309).
