Mother and daughter are originally from the Haaksbergen region. They lived in the countryside and recently returned to the area.
After the 36-year-old woman in the hospital talked to the police on Monday and told her story about how the night had gone, she was arrested. She is suspected of being involved in her mother’s death.
At just before 2 a.m., the police received a report of an ‘accident with injuries’, following a tip from a taxi driver driving on the N18. The police find a dead and an injured woman under the viaduct a little later. Where the police initially expect to find a traffic accident, officers notice traces that indicate a crime.
Multiple injuries
For example, both women have multiple injuries, and not just from the fall of the viaduct above the N18. Police are investigating whether the women may have assaulted each other or whether they injured themselves. It is also not yet ruled out that a third person was involved, according to the police.
The police are asking witnesses to come forward, precisely because the drama took place a few kilometers outside the center of Haaksbergen.
