Two surprises in new Tynaarlo council: alderman post for Jurryt Vellinga (Liveable) and Jelbrich Peters (PvdA)

The new college of mayor and aldermen of Tynaarlo has two surprises. Jurryt Vellinga (Liveable Tynaarlo) becomes alderman after all and the PvdA pushes Jelbrich Peters forward.

The two other aldermen are Hans de Graaf on behalf of ChristenUnie and Miguel Ririhena, the current party leader of GroenLinks. De Graaf is going to do finances and returns to Tynaarlo’s college after a few years of absence. Ririhena gets the social domain in his portfolio.

Municipal interests is also part of the coalition, but does not provide an alderman. The new council was presented on Tuesday morning in the town hall in Vries.

Doubts Vellinga

Jurryt Vellinga doubted for a long time whether he would go for the aldermanship. The party leader and current party leader of Leefbaar Tynaarlo, the largest party with five seats, heads a medical company in Groningen and can hardly be missed there. Liveable Tynaarlo therefore looked around emphatically for an alderman from outside the municipality, but apparently Vellinga was the only candidate left. He is going to do spatial planning.

The question is who will succeed Vellinga as party leader of Leefbaar. Number two on the list Annemarie Machielsen from Paterswolde seems to make the most of it. She has a lot of managerial experience in education.

Peter’s biggest surprise

Jelmich Peters from Tynaarlo is the biggest surprise in the new lecture. She was in 9th place for the PvdA on the list for the municipal elections. The PvdA won three seats. Koos Dijkstra and Anneke Lubbers, number 1 and 2 on the list, seemed to make the most of the aldermanship, but they will not be.

Peters is a lawyer and works as a senior lawyer and complaints coordinator at the municipality of Midden-Drenthe. She will have sustainability and traffic in her portfolio in Tynaarlo.
