Two Spanish pizzerias (Madrid’s Fratelli Figurato, 12ª, and Barcelona’s Sartoria Panatieri21st) have been included in the first edition of the ‘ranking’ 50 Top Pizza World 2022which also extends the list to the ‘top 100’, where the also Barcelonan has sneaked The Balmesina (52nd). For its part, I Masanielli di Francesco Martucci (Caserta, Italy) has been chosen as the best pizzeria in the world at a gala presented at the Palazzo Reale in Naples and broadcast by Rai Uno.

This ranking has been designed by ’50 Top Pizza’, the most influential guide in the world of pizza. “This classification was possible thanks to the annual work of our inspectors who collaborate with this project. They have examined and evaluated a huge number of pizzerias around the world. According to the policy of our guide, it was always done under the most absolute anonymity”, they affirm organizers.

Italian pizzerias win by a landslide (40), followed by the rest of Europe (25), the US (15), the Asia-Pacific area (15), South America (4) and Africa (1). And while there are many different styles of pizza, the Neapolitan, both classic and contemporary, is the most popular.

Fratelli Figurato have received the special Pastificio Di Martino award. “The competition was of a very high level, and it is a great honor for us to be in this classification within the first 20 positions.
