Two cyclists were injured in accidents in Berlin on Friday. Both were hit by cars.
A 64-year-old cyclist was seriously injured in an accident in the Tiergarten district of Berlin-Mitte. As the police announced on Saturday, the man rode his bike on Friday afternoon, coming from Tiergartenstrasse in the direction of Lennéstrasse via Kemperplatz.
As a result, a previously unknown driver who was traveling in the same direction is said to have briefly driven onto the cycle path behind Kemperplatz. The car collided with the bicycle, which caused the 64-year-old to fall and injure his arms and legs as well as various abrasions.
Paramedics took the man to a hospital for treatment. The driver drove away from the scene of the accident undetected. The investigation into the exact accident and the driver continued, according to the information.
In another accident on Friday afternoon in Berlin-Mitte, a 49-year-old crashed his car into a driveway with a 27-year-old cyclist when turning off Chausseestrasse.
The cyclist suffered head and leg injuries and abrasions on his knees as a result of the collision. According to the information, passers-by provided first aid until the arrival of the rescue workers.
The injured 27-year-old was taken to a hospital for inpatient treatment. The driver was not injured.
