The International Cycling Union (UCI) has confirmed that it allows it Daniil Kazakov and Vlas Shishkin access to international competitions under neutral status.
The UCI decided in May that Russians and Belarusians are entitled to compete, if they apply for the right to compete and meet the requirements set for the athletes of the countries.
Cyclists from Russia and Belarus compete without any country symbols, and are not allowed to express their support for the military operations in Ukraine in any way.
The federation also demands from Russian and Belarusian athletes that they do not have contracts or any connections with the countries’ defense forces or state security organizations.
In the past, the UCI has accepted the applications of five Russian cyclists.
Kazakov, 18, and Shishkin, 21, are not big names in their sports by international standards. Kazakov is the Russian champion in the youth team competition in road cycling. Shishkin, on the other hand, has twice become the European champion in youth track cycling.
