The Israeli army launched a manhunt for the gunman and fired on Palestinians who threw and fired explosives at soldiers. Two Palestinians, aged 16 and 18, were killed and 11 others injured. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has condemned the killing of the teenagers.
It has been very restless in the West Bank for months. About 80 Palestinians, including militants and civilians, have been killed in several incidents.
