Two officers killed on American campus: gunman (27) arrested after manhunt Abroad

The two victims responded Tuesday to a report about a suspicious person who would be on campus. Alexander Wyatt Campbell (27) is suspected of having fired the shots.

The site was immediately closed off. Campbell was found after a long search and was hit by a bullet; he would have tried to flee by crossing a river. After his arrest, Campbell was taken to hospital under guard. Until then, no one was allowed to leave the school just like that. It is a private university with about 1500 students. It is not yet clear whether it is a student of the school.

The local authorities confirmed the news during a press conference. “After a brief altercation, the suspect opened fire and fired at the two officers,” said police spokeswoman Corinne Geller. President Joe Biden also responded. “Gun violence against law enforcement officers is sickening. It has to stop.”
