Two occupants seriously injured in car collision in Deurne, road closed for hours

On Wednesday afternoon on the N270 near Deurne, a car ended up on the wrong side of the road for unknown reasons and then collided head-on with two other cars. Two people were seriously injured. Two others suffered unknown injuries. The road was closed until 9 p.m. after the accident.

The seriously injured passengers were rushed to Radboudumc in Nijmegen; the two other victims to the Elkerliek Hospital in Helmond.

The accident happened around 4 a.m. at the junction with the N279. The road was closed in both directions on this, but traffic was only able to use it again by 9 a.m. Wednesday evening.

In addition to an ambulance, a trauma helicopter was also alerted.

The police have conducted a technical investigation into the cause of the accident. Accidents regularly occur on the N270, the road between Deurne and Helmond, sometimes with fatal consequences.
