Two new aldermen in the municipality of Westerveld

Sustainable Strong Westerveld (DSW), VVD and CDA have reached an agreement on a collaboration for the next four years. Alderman Henk Doeven from Wapserveen returns for DSW in the college of mayor and aldermen, VVD and CDA are proposing a new name.

Meppeler Roel Vedder is put forward by the VVD. He was a VVD councilor in Westerveld from 2012 and 2014 and also chairman of the local branch. Klaas Smidt, VVD alderman in recent years, already announced before the elections that he would not return.

The CDA returns to the college after a four-year absence. Jacob Boonstra from Haren is nominated as alderman, he had previously worked for several years at the town hall in Diever as a financial advisor. The parties want to install the nominated aldermen during an extra council meeting on 8 June.

Together, the three parties have nine of the seventeen seats in the municipal council. D66 was initially also in the picture as a college party, but the party dropped out during the negotiations. The coalition agreement will be presented in the council chamber on 31 May. Formateur Roelof Martens has advised the parties to work out a number of themes in a council agenda.
