Thanks to further investigation, the West Coast police were able to link some similar things to the facts. For example, the same suspect would have struck in Waregem and Zutendaal in the course of January. In both cases, eighties were called and looked up by a false bank employee. The victims were each made a few thousand euros lighter.
During a house search, a suspect was arrested in Denderleeuw on 4 February. After interrogation, the 25-year-old man was arrested by the investigating judge on suspicion of multiple scams. Currently the suspect is still in custody.
