Two men were arrested in Norg last night on suspicion of stealing wood. Officers saw the two driving a car with a large trailer full of logs.
The men were pulled over by the police and said they had ‘purchased the wood honestly’. The officers checked the story and concluded that the claim was false.
The two were subsequently arrested for theft of wood. The police are investigating the origin of the wood so that it can be returned to its rightful owner.
Recently, Staatsbosbeheer and Het Drentse Landschap reported that wood is increasingly being stolen from forests for heating.
