Two men (53, 85) died in swimming accidents in southern Brandenburg

Two men lost their lives in two swimming accidents in southern Brandenburg over the weekend.

According to the police, two men wanted to swim through Lake Felix near Bohsdorf in the Spree-Neisse district on Sunday afternoon.

A 53-year-old suddenly had acute problems in the water and called for help, the police said on Monday. His swimming companion tried to pull the man onto the shore, but had to give up himself, exhausted.

Paramedics then took him to a hospital for treatment. A little later, divers found the second man lifeless near the shore, a doctor could only determine his death.

According to the police, a swimming accident also occurred in a gravel lake near Bestesee (Dahme-Spreewald). Witnesses observed how a man suddenly went under while swimming in the gravel lake for an unknown reason.

After rescue attempts by other bathers, the 85-year-old was rescued from the water by the fire brigade. Immediately initiated resuscitation measures were unsuccessful. Even with this swimming accident, an emergency doctor could only determine the death of the man.
