Two people were killed in a shooting incident around 6 p.m. tonight in a branch of fast food chain McDonald’s on Floresstraat in Zwolle, Overijssel province. The staff of the case has been taken to safety. The area around the McDonald’s in Zwolle-Noord where the fatal incident took place has been cordoned off for investigation, the police said.

Initially, the police reported that there had been a fatal shooting incident. Two people appear to have died. The police say they have suspicions who the victims are, but that their identity has yet to be officially established before they can share information about it.

Eyewitnesses told RTV Oost that a man walked into the store, first ordered food and sat down at a table and then shot at the two men. Panic arose among the visitors, according to RTV Oost.

The police are looking for one or more perpetrators. No one has been arrested yet. The McDonald’s branch and the parking lot are closed off with large fences. There are many police officers with vehicles on the scene.

The restaurant was packed with customers at the time of the shooting, police said. Shocked by the shooting, many people who fled and sought refuge have left their belongings behind. The police would like to get in touch with people who saw the events or who were in the building or on the McDonald’s property shortly before the shooting incident.
